Review "Exosomes" by Michiel Pegtel and Stephen Gould published in Annual Review of Biochemistry!
Exosomes, 40-100nm vesicles as shown by Electron Microscopy are presumably derived from endosomes. Exosomes are generally round but often appear as a 'cupshape' with EM revealing their double membrane structure.
Projection of exosome release events (yellow spots) recorded by live TIRF microscopy in a cervical cancer cell (blue) over a time-course of 3 minutes.
